There are a few tips and tricks that you can try to lose weight and keep the pounds falling off along with a healthy diet and exercise. In our twenties, our metabolism is running much quicker than when you hit your thirties and this can be the main cause of stagnation or even weight gain. Increased stress and the lifestyle changes that come along with age, such as starting a family and marriage, make it all that much harder. Check out the following tips to speed up your metabolism and get back to your target weight. Losing weight in your 30s:

Don’t Consume All Your Protein at Once

Through every decade of your life, you will lose muscle mass. In your thirties, this is when the change in your build starts to increase. You will begin to notice the physical changes that come along with it. A study conducted in 2009 showed that people in their thirties gained more muscle mass while they began a fitness routine when they spaced out their protein intake throughout the day in comparison to eating all your protein in one sitting. We usually consume the most protein at dinner time as opposed to other meals, but in your thirties, you should limit your protein intake to less than 30 grams per meal.

Don’t Eat What Your Kids Eat

Steer clear of the food that your kids enjoy. As mentioned above, our metabolism falls when we age, so your kid’s metabolism is much faster than ours. If the children are eating chicken nuggets, chips, or fatty foods, then try and cook something different for yourself. This food will inevitably lead to weight gain and all that hard work you put in will be wasted.

Get a Good Amount of Sleep

Sleep is arguably just as important as a good diet and exercise. You are likely to be missing out on that much-needed sleep, but this will, in turn, harm your weight loss journey. It not only leads to weight gain but will also increase your appetite. So make sure you schedule in a good nights rest and stick to your plans. It can be tough sometimes, but it will be for your benefit in the long run.

Stay Hydrated with Water

Sugary drinks such as soda and juice can cause issues when it comes to losing weight. You will find that in your thirties, ditching the coca-cola for water will have a great impact on your weight loss and is an easy substitute that can be more beneficial than you think. Just because it has ‘diet’ in the title doesn’t mean that it is good for you. The only true zero-calorie beverage is water and its natural hydrating qualities is great for the new, active you.
