Detox juice

A good accompaniment to any meal, coconut water, a clear liquid extracted from very young (green) coconuts, contains water for rehydration and electrolytes to replace what’s lost through sweat.

Ingredients (makes about 700ml)
•    500ml coconut water (2 coconuts approx.)
•    500g pineapple
•    10g basil leaves

Method
Use a juicer to extract the juice from the pineapple and basil. Pour the extracted juice into a blender and add the coconut water and an ice cube. Blend on medium speed for about 30 seconds.

Ginger tamarind cooler

A good choice before meals, this tonic’s ginger and apple soothe digestion, while tamarind stimulates a sluggish bowel.

Ingredients (makes about 700ml)
•    150ml green apple juice
•    150ml coconut water
•    5ml tahini paste
•    30ml ginger (grated)
•    15ml tamarind paste

Method
Place all ingredients into a blender, add two ice cubes and blend.

Red Zinger

This refreshing elixir stimulates and cleanses the liver and gallbladder, and promotes skin renewal.

Ingredients (makes about 700ml)
•    960g carrot
•    265g cucumber
•    520g beetroot
•    40g ginger

Method
Use juicer to extract juices. Stir well and serve. If time allows, we recommend that you blend the extracted juices with an ice cube for about 20 seconds just before serving.
