5. Read the food labels
If you're not nuts about knowing the nutritional profile of most things you eat, the ketogenic diet probably isn't for you. In order to keep your carbohydrate levels low enough – we're talking under 50 grams a day – you'll need to do a lot of label reading. Most dairy products although they are high in protein, are also high in carbohydrates. As are many fruits and some nuts, legumes and vegetables.
