Hey
Hi - I'm new to the boards. Have a patchy diet history; was underweight and had a lot of "disordered eating" behaviours in my late teens/early twenties. Then got healthier, and gained weight, but in the last couple years since the birth of my daughter two years ago have been sitting in the overweight-obese borderline range on BMI. Want to get my weight back to healthy, but want to do it in healthy ways, without sliding back into old patterns.
Hoping for help, support, and some accountability. Have set myself a 12-week goal of losing 8-10 kg. Still working out ways to fit in exercise with full time work and mothering, but will keep you posted and hope to get some ideas through these boards.

I am still deciding whether to go to a gym or use the homegym in the apartment..

Hi all,
I started my 12 week challeng last Saturday (1 week ago) and I am seriously determined to take on this challenge but I've caught the flu (from my caring, sharing husband). Not wanting to be out of action for too long, can anyone advise me on suppliments and when I can safely return to training? |

I've just started my 12 weeks, just like alot of you I have kind of started before as well, taken photo's measurements but just couldn't seem to bring myselft to click the "start challange" button........ But I've done it now! and am determined to do it all with my few free weights and dvd's at home! am doing alot of the routines out of Womens health mag and oxygen........ any tips greatly appreciated! see you at the finish line! |

Hi there everyone,
My name is Nicole from Melbourne. I have just joined a gym, not for weight loss as i need to put on weight but more for building my strength and fitness level and possibly putting on weight if i can.

I have 4 weeks and 2 days to go, my last 2 weeks have been a bit meh, last week I kept up my running and a few walks, but only did one weights session, then this week I had the dreaded period, and all hell broke loose, over eating major problem no motivation!!!

Im 42 and I am nearly recuperated from a ankle reconstruction (thanks 34 years of netball). Hell, I miss netball so much i can't even watch it on TV without getting upset.
However, I now have a new obsession. I love doing weight training, HIIT, and eating all the good stuff.
I am a disciple (ha ha) of Tom Venuto's Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle process, for me its makes awesome sense and no silly promises or miracle cures etc.
I joined this particular forum as I hope for it to be very diverse, informative and to expand my thoughts on working out and eating right.
I look forward to reading your opinions and ideas, giving me constantly fresh approaches to maintain and strenthen my lifestyle. I can always keep learning.

Hi Gem!
I read your article and I know what you mean! I work in the mines also in the Hunter Valley, but i am lucky enough to work close to where i live, but I totally agree it is so hard to find the motivation to work out or go for a run when you have just finished a 12.5 hr slog. I find the best way for me to integrate exercise into my roster is to get up at 4.30am before a day shift and go for a run, because after work i just want to relax and then i can just worry about eating well. When im on night shift i sleep a bit less so i get up a bit earlier in the afternoon and go to the gym for a good workout which wakes me up and gets me pumping for the night.
Here's luck working out a system that works for you! Its nice to know someone else faces the same kind of challenge!! |

your story inspired me lots, I thought if you can work those long hours & train I can do this too. I have started the blitz with a shoulder injury but have clearance from my Dr & Physio so I'm not without my challenges either. Hey everyone this is my 1st day of the 12 week blitz & also the 3rd time I've entered! I always have an excuse to quit usually but not this time lol! I have only a bit of weight to lose but can't wait to feel those abs after uncovering the fat!! I have started with a shoulder injury but have clearance from my Dr to continue with my exercise. I use my local gym & equipment at home also. Had a brilliant 1st day nutrition wise & half hour cardio today.....cheers Kim :) |

Hi everyone,
I am in week 5 of the 12 Week Challange and find I am not losing weight but have dropped a few cm. All up I have lost 500 grams!
Even though I am happy with my clothes fitting better, I am getting very angry at the lack of movement on the scale - so much so I brought new scales as I belived my old one was faulty. of course it wasn't.
I am going to the gym 12 times a week, mixing cardio (running/RPM/Body Attack) with weights (free weights/Body Pump/PT sessions). My diet has also been revamped to reflect a healthy version of me.
I read the 'Success Stories' and see people lose soo many kilos. what am I doing wrong ??
any help would be great. |
