Walking is good for your heart. A recent Harvard study shows that walking at a moderate pace (3 mph) for up to 3 hours a week—or 30 minutes a day--can cut the risk of heart disease in women by as much as 40%. This is the same benefit you would get from aerobics, jogging, or other vigorous exercise. The benefits to men are comparable.

Along with its benefits to the heart, walking:

  • improves circulation
  • helps breathing
  • combats depression
  • bolsters the immune system
  • helps prevent osteoporosis
  • helps prevent and control diabetes
  • helps control weight (see below)
  • Tips for Walking!!!

    The only equipment you need to walk is a good pair of walking shoes. Look for the following when you buy a pair of walking shoes:

    • a snug fit
    • a well-cushioned heel
    • good arch support
    • enough room for your toes to wiggle
    • flexible, slip-resistant soles

    If you’re middle-aged or older and have not been physically active, check with your doctor before beginning a vigorous exercise program.

Walking is really good exercise for health. Start your day by walking for 20-25 minutes and you will get the result within several days.

My favourite thing about walking is that you can challenge yourself by walking slowly to the letterbox, then walk quickly to the next light post, then walk slowly to the roundabout, etc.

Varying your speed when walking, further improves your metabolism and fitness!

Thanks for describing the  benifits  of morning walk..But i have some information about on this please tell me is it true or not....uch of the time our bodies are sluggish and our blood never gets an airing. It is a simple exercise that anyone can easily follow.

Walking is exercise that has lots of benefits. It is very good

exercise to maintain the fitness level of the body. Anybody can

Yes, walking is very relaxing I prefer having the walkaton rather than running. :) I am just not the active type of person, a little moving around fits me well.

Early morning walk is very good for controlling diabetic, hyper-tension and many other disease. Doctor always suggest walking for better life style. Before starting to walk have 1 to 1.5 litres of water. This will help to manage the body fluid system. Start gentle walk for 10 minutes. You will find your body slowly warming up. Then start walking briskly for 20 minutes. Your heart will start to beat 1.5 times faster than the normal beat. Then reduce the speed and next 10 minutes slow down considerably and make your heart beat comes to normal speed. After finishing the walk do some gentle exercise to stretch the muscle other wise muscle cramp will trouble you. Happy walking.
