Massage methods

Acupressure is a technique of Chinese Traditional Medicine. Deep finger pressure is applied at certain points to reduce tension, increase circulation and offer pain relief for many complaints, and remove energy blockages to promote good health.

Aromatherapy is the art of applying essential oils combined with relaxation massage, and is designed to improve physical and emotional wellbeing.

Bowen Therapy is a gentle, yet dynamic remedial therapy that promotes healing through physical, emotional, mental and energetic levels as well as promoting relief from pain and discomfort from a multitude of chronic and acute conditions. Exact moves over muscles, tendons and ligaments are applied and there are frequent pauses between each series of moves.

Chinese Massage (Tui Na) is the most common form of acupressure practised in China. Acu-points are stimulated with fingers, thumbs, feet and knees. Clients remain dressed and experience a vigorous body massage using techniques such as rubbing, kneading, and rolling to recharge the body’s energy levels.

Lymphatic Drainage involves specialised, gentle rhythmic pumping techniques to move skin in the direction of the lymph flow through a network of lymph vessels and lymph nodes, to eliminate excess toxins, dead cells, viruses, bacteria and chemicals. Benefits include relieving fluid congestion, promoting wound healing, and relieving stress and anxiety.

Reiki is an ancient Japanese hands-on form of alternative healing. Hands can be placed on or just above the client in a passive way and the energy from the universe is transferred through the practitioner to the client to promote emotional balance, spiritual awareness, and physical wellbeing to help the body heal itself with positive energy.

Remedial Massage/Deep Tissue Massage aims to release chronic patterns of tension in the body, through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas. It’s used to address specific problems associated with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitations, sporting and occupational injuries, RSI, and physical and mental fatigue.

Swedish Massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain. It improves circulation and stretches the ligaments and tendons, keeping them supple and young. Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system while at the same time relaxing the nerves themselves. It can reduce stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested for stress management.
