Weight lifting is one of the best ways to burn fat and get strong.

Fat loss

It’s the weight loss world’s biggest dilemma: how to lose fat and maintain muscle (dieting alone tends to divide weight loss between fat and muscle, with a 75-25 split). The answer lies in lifting, which led to 40 per cent greater fat loss in a Penn State University study. While subjects doing aerobic and resistance training lost the same amount of weight as their strength-only counterparts, those in the strength group lost almost 100 per cent of their weight in fat, while those splitting their workouts lost a chunk of their weight from muscle.
