Vitamin D is an important vitamin that can help aid weight loss, and mushrooms are the only natural plant source. Mushrooms that have been exposed to ultraviolet light have higher levels of vitamin D. In fact, in less than one second, a mushroom with no vitamin D can increase to over 100 per cent of one's daily needs with ultraviolet light, reports Inside Science
