god, the weekends are usually a nightmare for me. I'm getting better but I always get tempted by a glass or two of wine. Because I'm away from home alot with work weekends seem to always be jam packed of social engagements like lunches and dinners so I'd love some ideas too!!!

Thanks guys! Well so far i feel pretty motivated...i have just joined a new gym(old one had dodgy facilities) and cleaned up my diet a bit.  I know that what i have to look out for is the weekend, as i tend to make a cheat meal a cheat weekend!  What does everyone else do on the weekends? How do you guys cope?

Hi Melly!

Looking forward to hearing how you go! I'm into week 2 - going pretty well, there are still a few hurdles I'm struggling with by overall I'm doing much better than my previous 567 attempts!

Good luck!

Hi there,

im a bit nervous about commiting to this 12 weeks, as im a little afraid of not reaching my goals. But i figured that i have to just jump in and take that risk, try as hard as i can and hopefully it will all work out with a little planning and alot of hard work. i excited to be starting today and hope to gain a bit of info from friends here and support if needed. Hi Ladies!

Sorry, I was trying to contribute myself as I know that it's great to have that motivation, but things are just so busy for me preparing for a figure comp! I know it's not nice when you don't get much activity happening.... we have a free 6 month membership at our forum if you head to this link or copy and paste this link:

www.idealbodiesonline.com/wh&f

And enter this code:

wh&fsuperdeal

You can trial out our forum for 6 months and you also get a free recipe book. We actually advertised this in the Women's Health and Fitness Magazine recently too :)

Hi there.

I start my 12 week challenge tomorrow.  I last did the challenge 3 years ago, however since then, I have been through a divorce, illness and some other massive hurdles...... subsequently caring for myself  physcially and also mentally has gone out the window!  Well now it's time to get fit and strong again.

I'm pretty excited................

Hi Karla,

Welcome to the forum!

Great to hear that you are enjoying running .  I am not a natural born runner myself & find it really hard to sustain a run for any length of time, but the best thing i did was buy myself a heart rate monitor.  I use it everyday at the gym & I also use it to do interval training where I run for a minute, then walk for minute.  It has really helped me improve my fitness & my ability to run for longer periods than i ever thought possible.  I also use it on the bike for interval training as well.

In relation to the BodyBlitz challenge, just go for it!  I too dreaded taking those photos, but taking them was a huge mental step to motivate me into changing my eating patterns & re-shaping my body for the rest of my life. No regrets!

Hi Pinkjogger,

Welcome & good luck achieving your goals.  I've only recently subscribed to WH&F, but absolutely love this magazine, lots of great information and motivational stories. We are in the same camp, my diet can be my biggest downfall as well, particularly after dinner.  To overcome this I've started drinking straight flavoured tea after dinner & nothing more to eat, then brushing my teeth.  It really helps me stop the uneccessary & unwanted calories!. Writing down everything i eat has also helped me keep my calories in check.  I've been doing the bodyblitz challenge & so far have lost 3.6 kg in 5 weeks.  My goal is to lose 7kg & get below the 60kg mark by week 12.    So far I'm on track, but yesterday I ate a huge muffin, large cookie and kit kat & felt so bad about it.  After i ate it, i realised i consumed 1300 calories within 5 minutes.  I then went & did a crazy training  session at the gym straight after, trained at 85% of my MHR for 1 hour & 10 minutes and burnt 774 calories.  So I only burnt a little over half of what i ate!  I realised today that I need to accept it, move on & get back on track & not beat myself up about it because its what I put in my body every day that counts, not the occasional slip up.

Hello everybody. I don't usually do these forum things but I'll need some motivation and encouragement along the way. I've just started running and I never run! Never! But I'm enjoying it and so if anyone has tips/pointers on how to get the most out of a run, I'd love to hear from you. I'm contemplating the BodyBlitz challenge next but first I need to work up the courage to take those dreaded photos.

Topic : Hi from another newbie!

hello nicky & gem,

I'm a newbie to this forum. I've been a reader of Women's health & fitness for a number of years now. Thought I'd check out the forum as some added motivation and chat to some members here. Hoping to lose a minimum of 5kg. I currently go to the gym 4 days a week. My diet is probably my biggest downfall so I could do with some help there.
